Designing a Mobile First Wealth Management Experience for Financial Advisors

OVERVIEW

Pascal Financial is a leading wealth management company that provides an AI-powered digital platform for financial advisors. In the fast-paced world of wealth management, seamless access to financial tools is essential for advisors to make informed decisions on the go. While Pascal’s desktop platform was well-established, the lack of a mobile application limited advisor flexibility and efficiency. To bridge this gap, the company initiated the development of a mobile interface, ensuring that core functionalities were accessible anytime, anywhere. At the forefront of this initiative, I led the design process, focusing on translating the desktop experience into an intuitive, mobile-friendly format.

Challenge

Financial advisors work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where every second counts. While Pascal’s desktop platform provided powerful wealth management tools, advisors needed a mobile solution that fit their on-the-go workflows. Our research started with the people who relied on the platform daily advisors and portfolio managers. Through interviews and usability studies, we uncovered key roadblocks that made financial decision-making on mobile devices frustrating and inefficient.

Navigating the desktop experience on a smaller screen felt clunky, critical insights were buried in complex data tables, and the lack of mobile-optimized interactions led to frequent frustration. The challenge wasn’t just about shrinking the interface, it was about rethinking how advisors accessed and acted on financial insights in a mobile-first way.

Key Challenges:

  • Desktop-Centric Design – The existing platform wasn’t optimized for mobile, making navigation difficult.
  • Information Overload – Large data tables and dense reports weren’t easily scannable on small screens.
  • Interaction Friction – Key actions required multiple steps, slowing down decision-making.
  • Lack of Real-Time Access – Advisors needed instant updates and notifications to stay ahead.
  • Balancing Simplicity & Power  – The challenge was to streamline without oversimplifying critical tools.

A successful solution required more than just a responsive layout—it needed a mobile-first approach that preserved the platform’s depth while enhancing usability and efficiency.

Designing Pascal Financial’s mobile experience wasn’t just about shrinking the desktop platform, it required rethinking navigation, interactions, and data presentation to suit a mobile-first workflow. My role as a Product Designer focused on creating an intuitive, responsive interface that allowed financial advisors to access insights and take action seamlessly on mobile.

Step 01: Mobile-Optimized Navigation & Layout.

Transforming a complex financial platform into a mobile-friendly experience meant simplifying how users moved and interacted.

The system begins with three essential inputs:

  • Introduced bottom navigation for fast access to core features.
  • Used card-based layouts to make dense data easily scannable.

Step 02: Simplified Data & Visual Clarity.

Financial data can be overwhelming, especially on smaller screens. To enhance readability, I:

  • Converted tables into charts for quick, visual insights.
  • Added collapsible sections to reduce cognitive load.
  • Refined contrast and typography for clarity in all lighting conditions.

Step 03: Fast, Focused Interactions.

Advisors needed to act quickly. To streamline critical actions, I:

  • Enabled swipe gestures for fast buy/sell/rebalance workflows.
  • Designed smart notifications to surface timely, relevant updates.
  • Built fluid transitions to create a responsive, intuitive feel.

CONCLUSION

Pascal Financial’s platform wasn’t built for mobility. Financial advisors struggled to manage portfolios on the go, bogged down by dense tables, clunky navigation, and workflows that didn’t translate to smaller screens. Accessing insights required too many taps, slowing down decisions when speed mattered most.

With a mobile-first interface, everything changed. Advisors could now scan portfolio insights at a glance, take action instantly, and stay updated in real-time, from anywhere. Core features were reimagined for clarity, speed, and touch-first interactions.

The Results:

  • Faster decisions – Advisors acted on market changes in real time.
  • Cleaner workflows – A streamlined UI reduced noise and friction.
  • Cross-platform continuity – Mobile and desktop stayed perfectly in sync.
  • Greater productivity – Less tapping, more informed action.

What began as a complex redesign challenge became a responsive, focused experience, giving advisors the tools to manage wealth smarter, not harder.
